In recognition of the immeasurable services rendered by the late Mr. Forbes as its Director from 1983 to 1997, the Bandaranaike Center for International Studies (BCIS) organized the ‘Ray Forbes Memorial Ceremony’ on Thursday, March 07, 2024, to honor him. Madam Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, the Chairperson of BCIS graced the Ceremony.
Before joining the BCIS in 1983, Mr. Ray Forbes was a Sri Lanka Foreign Service Officer who served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in Sri Lankan Missions abroad.

Mrs. Roshani Weerasinghe, Former Deputy Director, Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) addressed the gathering and paid tribute to this remarkable individual – a dedicated scholar and a sound administrator who provided exemplary leadership to Sri Lanka’s pioneering institution dedicated to the study of international affairs and relations.
