BCIS Round Table Discussion: Climate Justice as a Foreign Policy Goal

BCIS Round Table Discussion organized as a part of the BCIS Discussion Series on Current Global Issues took place on Friday, February 09, 2024, at the BCIS Auditorium. ‘Climate Justice as a Foreign Policy Tool’ is the theme of the February Round Table Discussion.

In the wake of the 28th UN Conference of the Parties (COP) held in Dubai, UAE, a focused dialogue on Climate Justice was pertinent and timely. To enrich the discussion, three distinguished scholars were invited: Mr. Hemantha Withanage, Chair of Friends of the Earth International and Senior Advisor of the Centre for Environmental Justice; Prof. Emeritus Sarath Kotagama of the University of Colombo; and Dr. Muditha Senarath-Yapa, Former Head of John Keells Research.

The moderation of the discussion was done by Prof. Buddhi Marambe, Senior Professor in the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Peradeniya.

Following these presentations, an interactive session ensued, allowed the audience to actively participate in a dynamic exchange of ideas with the speakers.

Given the importance of the chosen topic and the expertise of the panelists, the discussion was both insightful and thought-provoking.
