The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) successfully held the Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the Language Programmes on 08 July 2026 at the Lotus Committee Room, BMICH, celebrating the achievements of students who successfully completed the Language progrmmes for the academic years 2024/B, 2025/A, and 2025/B.
The ceremony was graced by H.E. Dr. Patricia Lázara Pego Guerra, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Sri Lanka, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Kaushalya Kumarasinghe, Director of the SAARC Cultural Centre, as the Guest of Honour. The event also featured concluding remarks by Ms. Cecile Hoorelbeck, Director of Alliance Française de Colombo.
The programme included inspiring speeches, vibrant cultural performances, and the awarding of certificates to students of Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Sinhala, Spanish, and Tamil, recognizing their dedication and commitment to language learning.
BCIS extends its heartfelt congratulations to all award recipients and sincere appreciation to the distinguished guests, lecturers, collaborating institutions, staff, and everyone who contributed to making this event a memorable success.
The event concluded with an engaging conversation between Prof. Jayadeva Uyangoda and Prof. Sasanka Perera, offering insights into the author’s experience and the ideas that inspired this collection.
