The Annual Convocation of the International Relations programmes of the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) was held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. onwards at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH). A total of 242 students were awarded Certificates, Diplomas, Higher Diplomas, and Postgraduate qualifications in International Relations, marking the successful culmination of their academic journeys at the BCIS.
Honourable Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, was the Chief Guest. Ms. Eva Abdulla, Former Deputy Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Maldives, and Chair of the Maldives Policy Think Tank, served as the Guest of Honour. Adding to the significance of the occasion, H.E. Madam Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, Chairperson of the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies, honoured the event with her presence.This year’s convocation held special significance as it coincided with the 50th Anniversary of the BCIS, a milestone achievement for Sri Lanka’s pioneer educational institution in the field of International Relations. As the BCIS embarks on its next chapter, it remains steadfast in its vision of building a better world rooted in peace, justice, sustainable development, human freedom, and dignity for all. This convocation not only celebrated the accomplishments of its students but also highlighted the Centre’s unwavering dedication to fostering informed dialogue, enhancing mutual understanding, and contributing to a more just and equitable global society.
