BCIS Publishes Reimagining International Relations from a Global South Perspective
The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) marked the release of its latest publication, Reimagining International Relations from a Global South Perspective, on 24 February 2026 at the BCIS Auditorium.
The book, authored by Emeritus Professor Gamini Keerawella, former Senior Professor of History at the University of Peradeniya and a member of the BCIS Council of Management and Academic Affairs Board, offers a fresh and compelling examination of international relations through a Global South lens.
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, addressing the event, praised the publication as a timely and important contribution, noting that it provides key insights into policy, diplomacy, and global governance. She highlighted that the volume encourages a reimagining of international relations as a pluralistic discipline, with lessons applicable across academic fields.
The launch was attended by former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, BCIS Chairperson; Deputy Minister of Mass Media Dr. Kaushalya Ariyarathne; members of the diplomatic community; representatives of the Bandaranaike National Memorial Foundation Board of Management; BCIS governing bodies; and invited scholars and practitioners.
