Preparing Children for a Changing World” as part of our staff development programme

Under the BCIS Staff Development Programme, a lecture titled ‘Preparing Children for a Changing World’ by Ms. Yasodhara Pathanjali was held on Thursday, 14 August 2025 at the BCIS Auditorium. Ms. Pathanjali is a British Sri Lankan Life Coach, Creator, Educator, Activist and Founder of Sri Lanka’s first formal modern alternative school.
The lecture was attended by BCIS staff and three members from the BMICH staff team. Ms. Pathanjali talked about issues relating to preparing children to meet challenges in a rapidly changing world. She emphasized the importance of parents taking the leadership in enabling their children to have the knowledge, skills, behavioural traits which will equip them for an uncertain future. It meant questioning how we do things and being open to doing things differently, knowing that the way our parents guided us using their lived experience was not always suitable for our context. She also mentioned the socio-economic issues faced by modern family these days from digital screen addiction to isolation of children from their parents and grandparents.
