The Climate Crisis: Ethical Imperatives, Ocean Ecosystems, and Community Action

The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) successfully hosted a dynamic and thought-provoking panel discussion on “The Climate Crisis: Ethical Imperatives, Ocean Ecosystems & Community Action” on 07 August 2025 at the BCIS Olympus Auditorium.

The event featured distinguished speakers — Mr. Matthew Pye, Author of Plato Tackles Climate Change and Teacher of Philosophy at the European School, Brussels; Mr. Muditha Katuwawala, Executive Director of The Pearl Protectors; and Prof. Terney Pradeep Kumara, Director General of the Department of Coastal Conservation & Coastal Resource Management.

Together, they offered diverse insights on one of the most urgent challenges of our time, sparking an engaging dialogue with the audience and inspiring meaningful reflection on the ethical, environmental, and community dimensions of climate action.
