Bradman Weerakoon began his distinguished career in the Ceylon Civil Service in 1954, serving in various regions across Sri Lanka before taking on the role of Secretary to Prime Minister Sir John Kotelawala. Over the years, he went on to serve with distinction as Secretary to seven Prime Ministers and three Presidents, earning a reputation for integrity, wisdom, and dedication to public service.
Beyond Sri Lanka, he made a significant global impact as Secretary General of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) from 1984 to 1989, where he championed the rights of individuals particularly women to make informed decisions about their reproductive health and lives.
We honour his remarkable life and enduring contributions, both to Sri Lanka and the international community. May his legacy continue to inspire future generations.
