The Convocation of the International Relations programmes of the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) was held on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 03: 00p.m. at the BMICH Main Hall. A total of 390 students who successfully completed their studies in Certificate, Diploma, Higher Diploma and Postgraduate studies in International Relations Programmes at the BCIS were awarded certificates at this event.
His Excellency Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka graced this event as the Chief Guest.
His Excellency Michael Appleton, the High Commissioner of New Zealand in Sri Lanka was the Guest of Honour and delivered the Convocation Oration.
The Chairperson of the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies, H. E. Madam Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga also graced the occasion.
The BCIS conferred Honors on two distinguished senior diplomats of Sri Lanka, Ambassador Jayantha Dhanapala, and Ambassador H. M. G. S. Palihakkara for their contribution to diplomacy in general and the promotion and protection of Sri Lanka’s national interest.
