BCIS Participates in the 7th Indian Ocean Dialogue
George I. H. Cooke, Deputy Director of the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies participated in the 7th Indian Ocean Dialogue (IOD) held virtually on February 2 and 3, 2021. The IOD is the premier 1.5 track forum for dialogue among academic and officials of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).
Focused on ‘Fostering a New Era of Cooperation in the Indian Ocean’, the 7th IOD was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research, United Arab Emirates. The sessions examined the enhancement of regional economic and trade cooperation, exploring opportunities for joint maritime security, paths to an inclusive public health and sustainable development, as well as future trends that are shaping cooperation in the Indian Ocean.
