Founding Chairperson


The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) established by Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike in 1974, is a flagship institution in Sri Lanka dedicated towards learning and disseminating knowledge of International Relations, in the creation and promotion of the sphere of international relations and foreign policy issues in Sri Lanka. Nearly half a century later, the brainchild of the world’s first female Prime Minister has emerged today as an academic platform which functions as a nonprofit, service-oriented tertiary level academic and research institute.
