The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Minna Thaheer as the Director of the Centre from January 2021.
Dr. Minna Thaheer counts more than 15 years of professional engagement in humanitarian and development sectors while pursuing her academic and research interests. Her career to date mainly includes interventions in peace and reconciliation, human development, conflict resolution, poverty alleviation, policy analysis, advocacy and empowerment. She has authored books, journal articles and contributed to edited volumes mainly in the fields related to peace building, social cohesion and sustainable development.
Dr. Thaheer has functioned in the same fields as a policy analyst; researcher, policy advisor, academic, author and archivist while working in think tanks, civil society initiatives, academia and multi-national agencies including the World Bank and the UNDP including her immediate past stint at the Centre for Poverty Analysis. She was a recipient of the NUFU PhD scholarship from University of Oslo. She was awarded a PhD in Political Science by the University of Colombo on a tripartite PhD programme with University of Oslo, Norway, University of Gadjamada, Indonesia and University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
