Virtual Inauguration Ceremony of the BCIS Language Programmes of the BCIS for the Academic year 2021 was successfully held on January 30, 2021.
H.E. Woonjin JEONG, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka graced this occasion as the Chief Guest.
Dr. Minna Thaheer, Director / BCIS made the opening remarks and Mr. George Cooke, Deputy Director also addressed this gathering.
More than 185 students enrolled for the Beginners’ levels in nine (09) languages – Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Sinhala, Spanish and Tamil participated in this virtual Inauguration ceremony.

The first session of the Lecture, Question and Answer (LQA) series of the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) for 2021 was on ‘Exploring Potential while Enhancing the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Bond’. Ms Sabah Aslam, Executive Director, Islamabad Institute of Conflict Resolution (IICR), Pakistan was the guest speaker.
The LQA drew a large number of enthusiasts keen to gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between the countries at present and the potential in diverse areas.The next LQA will be with a networking partner from another country in the South Asian region.
